GeoSTEM Mission: Build a Bridge
Can you design a bridge strong enough to connect two sides?
Get ready for an engineering adventure! In this GeoSTEM Mission, students explore famous bridges around the world while discovering how geography, science, technology, engineering, and math come together to solve real-world problems.
Students investigate where famous bridges are located, why they were built, and how engineers use materials, forces, shapes, and measurements to create structures that can support weight.
Then itβs their turn to become engineers.
Students will explore, investigate, design, and build as they create their own bridge design, choose materials, think about strength and stability, and complete a mini engineering challenge.
Inside the Mission
π Explore the World β Discover famous bridges and the places where they are located.
π Investigate β Learn how bridges work and what makes a bridge strong.
βοΈ Think Like an Engineer β Explore forces, materials, shapes, balance, and structural design.
π Design Your Bridge β Draw and plan an original bridge while making important engineering decisions.
𧱠Choose Your Materials β Decide which materials would work best for your design and explain why.
ποΈ Complete the Challenge β Put your engineering thinking to the test with a hands-on bridge-building challenge.
π― Mission Complete! β Reflect on your design, what worked, what didn’t, and how you could improve your bridge.
Geography + STEM + Engineering = One Epic Mission!
This mission is designed to make learning feel like an adventure while helping students connect classroom concepts to the bridges and engineering solutions they see in the real world.
